The Role
Reporting to the Manager of Health and Safety, The Nurse Occupational Health plays a key role in the site emergency response team, is responsible for delivering primary health care treatment and emergency medical care, as well as supporting site-based health and safety activities.
This is a permanent full-time position Monday to Friday, based at our Kwinana Refinery .
Key responsibilities
- Active participation in the establishment of a health and safety culture.
- Undertake all work in a safe and efficient manner, in accordance with statutory requirements and Covalent policies & procedures.
- Ensure all health, safety and environmental incidents are reported.
- Responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation, facilitation and evaluation of the delivery of site based medical services.
- High degree of true care for people and accountability for actions.
- Manage injuries with appropriate treatment and administer medication within scope of practice and in accordance with relevant site procedures.
- Review and assessment of pre-employment medicals against functional capability statements.
- Maintain accurate personnel medical files.
- Deliver outcomes with purpose and collaboration
- Coordinate with the Emergency Response Team (ERT), volunteers and local community services as directed
- Conduct health and hygiene surveillance monitoring
- Monitor and maintain site medical facilities and equipment
- Contribute to the development and implementation of return-to-work plans in consultation with the injured employees, their supervisor and treating doctor
- Support and coach team members, managers, and employees.
Role Requirements
- Tertiary qualification in Nursing and/or Paramedicine or relevant field
- Current Registered Nursing registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience working in a health-related field in the resources refining/processing or healthcare sectors.
- Previous experience in site based medical services in a mining or resources environment (refinery operations highly regarded), and/or experience as a Senior Registered Nurse or Clinical Nurse in a healthcare setting.
- Alcohol and Drug Collection Certification
- Senior First Aid
- Knowledge and understanding of Occupational Health and safety legislation and how these impact on mine site environments and safety services.
- An ability to work independently.
- Demonstrated effective organisational and time management skills.
- Demonstrated effective interpersonal, negotiation and conflict resolution skills with an ability to liaise effectively with staff at all levels of the organisation.
