About the role:

An opportunity for one (1) x Psychosocial Health and Safety Lead to be part of our Heath, Safety and Wellbeing Division.

The Health and Wellbeing Hubs is the single most significant investment in the health, safety and wellbeing of Victoria Police employees to prevent and respond to work related injuries. Six multi-disciplinary teams, based in hubs across the state are being established, enhancing employee's mental health, injury prevention, early intervention, and recovery support. This newly created position offers an exciting opportunity to support Victoria Police employees.

Reporting to the Senior Operations Manager, the Psychosocial Health and Safety Lead will provide technical subject matter expertise to the Health and Wellbeing Hub Leadership Team and Psychosocial Health and Safety Consultants working across different hubs. The position will be responsible for leading the psychosocial health and safety discipline by ensuring consistent practice methods, governance and continuous professional development of the Psychosocial Health and Safety Consultants across the hubs.

Your duties will include:

• Provide subject matter expertise, training and guidance to Psychosocial Health and Safety Consultants and hub leadership team as the technical lead.
• Oversee the governance of the psychosocial health and safety discipline within the hubs to ensure consistency in practice, quality assurance and continuous improvement.
• Lead the strategic collaboration with other safety professionals in the organisation to ensure an aligned purpose which is in line with organisational safety management systems and actions plans.
• Build organisational safety culture and capability through influencing senior leaders and managers.
• Confidently represent the organisation with key internal and external stakeholders such as WorkSafe Victoria.
• Provide high level briefings on programs and activities to fulfil funding and reporting requirements.
• Participate as part of the leadership team on program evaluation, reporting and meeting performance indicators.

As the successful applicant, you will have:

• Proven ability to lead a psychosocial health and safety function within a large or complex organisation.
• Expert knowledge of psychosocial health and safety risks, hazards, and effective controls.
• Demonstrated experience in coaching, mentoring, and supporting a team to deliver safety services.
• Demonstrated ability to drive organisational safety objectives and contribute to strategic direction.
• Highly developed communication, conceptual, negotiation and consultation skills with the ability to influence managers and stakeholders to achieve desired outcomes.
• Highly developed interpersonal skills with the proven ability to establish and sustain effective working relationships, including the ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a team-based environment.
• A degree or diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or related discipline is required.
• A qualification and/or industry experience working within a mental health discipline is highly desirable.
