Job DescriptionThe Occupational Therapist position is part of the HSE team which provides advice on safety related matters for Youfoodz, including employment of current and potential employees.The Occupational Therapist will be responsible for efficient, evidence-based service delivery to all Youfoodz staff.The role is office and facility based with Occupational therapy services to be delivered generally onsite, although there may be scope where a home visit is possible.All tasking must be completed in accordance with Good Manufacturing and Food Safety standards.You will… * Clinical Duties:
  • Provide evidence based, person centred assessment, management and intervention to people with a physical and/or psycho-social conditions in line with company goals.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of early intervention programs.
  • Review pre-employment medical paperwork and determine if any physical conditions will prevent potential employees from performing the inherent requirements of the role and whether adjustments can be made.
  • Develop role specific physical requirements based on workloads.
  • Manage employees or staff who may present with internal or external injuries so that they can return to pre-injury condition.
  • Utilise a strengths-based approach to support an employee to identify their goals and utilise a capacity building approach towards achievement and long-term sustainability of these goals.
  • Understand the principles and philosophy of a WorkCover insurance-based model and submit required documentation to facility employees returning to pre-injury condition.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic and evolving team focused on achieving optimal employee outcome while meeting targets set for the team.
  • Provide information and skills training to employees as needed in order to achieve goals
  • Liaise with and provide therapy and progress reports to management and external organisations as required.
  • Participate in quality improvement and business delivery projects and meetings as directed by your manager.
  • Ability to write reports to a high standard that meet both the needs of the client and the insurer.
  • Conduct risk assessments and develop control measures to mitigate potential hazards.
  • Assist in developing area specific Improvement plans aimed at continuous improvement and risk mitigation and supporting the teams with its implementation.
  • Develop and maintain an up to date and in-depth understanding of legislation, rules and regulations and how this applies to the business.
  • Training and Education:
  • Assist in the development and delivery of comprehensive training programs to educate employees on safe manual handling practices.
  • Develop and conduct toolbox talks to address specific safety concerns and promote a proactive safety culture.
  • Collaborate with supervisors to ensure employees receive appropriate training and certifications for their roles.
  • Driving operational ownership and accountability of safety and wellbeing program to lead by example and improve safety culture.
  • Incident Management and Investigation:
  • Assist in investigations into accidents, near misses, and incidents, identifying root causes and assist in implementing corrective actions.
  • Help prepare detailed incident reports and maintain records to ensure compliance with reporting requirements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop preventive measures and promote continuous improvement.
You have…Qualifications
  • Tertiary qualification in Occupational Therapy
  • First aid training
  • Open Australian drivers' licence.
Experience
  • Strong engagement and stakeholder management experience with ability to demonstrate effective leadership
  • Experience in supporting Managers and teams in managing operational health issues
  • General understanding of Workplace Injury Rehabilitation and Compensation Laws, and Injury Management and Return to Work principles.
  • Previous experience in fast paced working environments
  • Familiarity with hazard identification, risk assessment, and incident investigation techniques.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with employees at all levels of the organisation.
  • Ability to lead and facilitate training sessions and meetings.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite and HSE software applications.
  • Physical ability to conduct on-site inspections and assessments.
  • Proven track record in creating efficiency and meeting targets
Desirable:
  • Cert IV OHS
  • Mental health first aid certificate
  • Experience in a safety role in organisation/s with varied risk profiles and across multiple sites
  • Auditing experience
  • Strong knowledge of local and federal regulations pertaining to health particularly in the food manufacturing industry

  • Superior communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving ability
  • Ability to partner with stakeholders
  • Intermediate MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills
