About the role

We are currently seeking an experienced Off-Grid Solar Engineer to join our growing team at RFI.

As a global leader in wireless technology solutions, we are expanding our focus on solar power solutions and need more resources to cater for growth. The successful candidate will play a key role in designing, implementing, and managing off-grid solar power projects for residential, commercial, and industrial clients.

• Design and engineer off-grid solar power systems tailored to meet client requirements and site conditions.
• Develop detailed solar PV and battery storage system designs for residential, commercial, and industrial projects.
• Perform system sizing, energy yield analysis, and financial modeling.
• Create single-line diagrams, layout drawings, and electrical schematics using industry-standard software (e.g., AutoCAD, PVsyst, Helioscope, Open Solar).
• Conduct site assessments and feasibility studies to determine the viability of off-grid solar installations.
• Develop detailed project proposals, including system design, equipment selection, and cost estimates.
• Coordinate and work with structural, geotechnical, and civil providers to design and construct turnkey solutions.
• Coordinate with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors throughout the project lifecycle to ensure timely and successful project delivery.
• Provide technical support and guidance to installation teams during system implementation and commissioning.
• Conduct post-installation reviews and performance assessments to verify system functionality and client satisfaction.
• Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and best practices related to off-grid solar power systems.

About you

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Renewable Energy, or related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in designing and implementing off-grid solar power systems.
• Proficiency in solar design software.
• Strong understanding of electrical engineering principles and it is essential you have experience with off-grid solar system components.
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and project management skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a proactive and customer-focused approach.
• CEC accreditation and relevant certifications (e.g., Grid Connect PV Design Accreditation) preferred.
• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites as required.
