About us:
Onslow’s salt fields were built in the late 1990’s and began shipping salt in 2001. In 2006 Mitsui & Co Ltd, one of the worlds most diversified trading enterprises, acquired Onslow Salt (OSPL). Currently OSPL is producing 2.7 million tonnes a year with exports predominantly to the Asian markets.
Onslow Salt is located on the coast of Western Australian 1400kms from Perth. The position is ideally suited to people looking for a combination of an interesting job and a relaxing lifestyle. The Position:
Reporting to the General Manager this position responsible for ensuring the company obligations under the relevant legislation are met or exceeded through the Occupational Health and Safety system and promoting health, safety, and risk management across the business.
Maintain strong knowledge of the relevant Acts and Regulations and advise management of changes to legislation or activities being conducted or planned.
Provide support, advice, and mentorship to all Onslow Salt staff regarding WHS matters.
Investigate all reported incidents and near misses, advise the GMO/SSE, the Group WHSEQ Manager and Statutory Authorities (where appropriate).
Participate where required with respect to all reported environmental incidents and near misses in conjunction with the Technical Services Department.
Provide guidance and assistance where possible with Environmental issues in conjunction with Technical Services Department.
Monitor to ensure all corrective actions are closed out in a timely manner.
Ensure Occupational Health and Safety policies, procedures and emergency documentation are regularly reviewed and updated.
Review and update all Occupational Health and Safety records and reports.
Undertake risk assessments and risk reviews as required.
Develop, implement, and maintain the Occupational Health and Safety system, including but not limited to INX.
Carry out site Health and Safety audits, inspections, and observations.
About you:
Ideally you will have a tertiary qualification in a safety, or risk management related discipline.
Sound knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation and standards.
Relevant certifications in auditing and other WHS practices.
A passion for being proactive and taking initiative to resolve issues and drive continuous improvement.
Proven track record of delivering WHS activities within Mining Industry.
Strong leadership and interpersonal skills including consultation, facilitation and negotiation skills.
Experience with Incident Investigations using ICAM and 5 Why.
Well-developed computer literacy skills.
Experience using Pronto or similar ERP Programs desirable.
A good working knowledge of Incident, Reporting and Recording systems including INX.
ISO 9001 systems & or certified auditor.
Certificate IV Training and Assessment desirable.
Occupational First Aid.
