Your Role
Joining the Operational Risk Team supporting the distribution team for Direct Insurance Australia (DIA), your purpose and unique contribution will be the efficient and effective operationalisation of the risk strategy, uplifting and embedding risk maturity in the business, and assuring our customer interactions align with our processes and policy.
As an Operational Risk Consultant , you'll undertake the risk identification management, review, mitigation and reporting alongside business owners in alignment with the IAG Risk Management Strategy, Risk Management Framework and Risk Appetite Statement.
You'll be an advocate for driving risk maturity uplift and improvement in the Operational Risk culture within the division. Your ability to engage broadly and communicate effectively within IAG to influence a practical understanding of Operational Risk will be a critical factor to success.
You'll have the opportunity to utilise your analytical thinking and business acumen to influence the business through risk assessment, control testing, reporting and stakeholder engagement. Ideally, you will have come from a background in general insurance, underwriting or distribution.
This is a permanent role, and we welcome applicants from all major cities in Australia.
About You
- Professional mindset with strong stakeholder management skills, passionate about partnering for success
- Underwriting experience or strong understanding of underwriting process
- Experience in general insurance or financial services industry
- Strong business acumen and risk management experience, ideally in a first line of defence
- Tertiary qualifications in Risk Management preferred, or Economics/Accounting/Finance/Law or related fields desired
- Relevant industry or specialism qualifications e.g.: ANZIIF, AS/NZSISO 31000:2009 (Risk management -principles and guidelines)
- Developed understanding of the regulatory environment, compliance obligations and effective controls
- Excellent attention to detail and forward planning and communication skills
