Operations Manager

Royal Vopak is the world’s leading independent tank storage company that employs around 6,000 employees in 23 countries throughout the world. In Australia, we have locations in Port Botany, Sydney and Darwin and employ 70 people.

We are now seeking to hire a new Operations Manager for our Sydney terminals.  

What you'll do

This is a permanent full time position based in Sydney.

Reporting to the Terminal Manager, this role is responsible for managing all operations activities associated with bulk liquid storage and distribution facilities. In addition this role will work closely with the Maintenance and Project Engineering teams in planning and executing maintenance and capital project works.  

Key responsibilities of the role (but not limited to):

• Ensure maximum safety is maintained for employees, carriers, contractors and visitors to site.
• Lead the overall site operations to ensure safe, reliable and continuous operations of the terminal.
• Lead, coach and manage the operations team to ensure the highest levels of performance by individuals and the terminal to enable us to achieve business priorities.
• Ensure compliance to all SHEQ requirements and standards are maintained within the terminal and possible improvements are identified and implemented where required
• Ensure all internal and external product transfers are completed according to client requirements and internal processes and standards and provide  trouble shooting support as needed.
• Develop and execute shutdown plans 
• Lead any SHEQ or customer service related investigations as required and coordinate various audits for SHEQ, customer and product quality

Who you are

You have:

• Demonstrated experience (3+ years) in successfully leading an operations team.
• Successfully implemented and/or maintained a safety culture within an operational team; where all aspects of safety are prioritised.
• Exceptional people management skills.
• Successfully implemented change initiatives and best practices to the work environment.
• Proven ability to develop a cohesive team centered around organisational values and by delivering on your commitments.
• Shown enthusiasm for challenging the status quo and making continuous improvements
• Excellent customer service skills
• Effective internal and external stakeholder management
• Proven ability to learn new concepts

The following would be highly regarded

• Tertiary qualification/s in engineering or operations management
• Relevant work experience in 24/7 operations
• Experience in the Bulk Liquid Storage industry, Petrochemical industry or in a Major Hazard Facility.
