Rock Art Australia Limited (“RAA”) is a for-purpose foundation dedicated to bringing science and Aboriginal knowledge together to fund the study of rock art in Australia. RAA initiates research and makes research grants to tertiary and other institutions and organisations involving a rigorous review of project submissions through the Science Advisory Council (SAC) which advises and makes recommendations to the RAA Board. The Operations Manager is a new senior full-time role that focusses on the effective operation of RAA’s business activities. The role reports to the Chief Executive and covers:
- Day-to-day administration and operation of RAA
- Finance - developing budgets with the CEO and managing them (including monitoring cashflow), assisting in the administration of processing of supplier invoices and payments, donor receipts, preparation of quarterly management accounts, helping with the preparation of the annual financial report, and participating in the annual audit processes
- IT - including administration and monitoring of various business programs, software agreements and licences
- Legal – ensuring compliance and assisting in developing and executing legal agreements for grant funding and other agreements
- Fundraising - managing and updating the donor database, managing donor communication and engagement
- External consultants - managing contracts and agreements with external consultants
- Science Advisory Council - providing administrative support to the SAC , managing the RAA grants process, project managing the annual SAC Workshop
- Website - helping create and manage content for the RAA website and social media pages and contribute to quarterly newsletters.
- Board committees – providing administrative support to the various board committees as required, including but not limited to the Finance & Risk Committee, the Marketing & Communications Committee and Nominations Committee
Candidates will need to demonstrate competence in the following areas:
- Excellent organisational, time management and project management skills
- Financial management skills
- Excellent IT and database management skills
- Familiarity with legal/contract agreements for research and other funding
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
- Ability to engage with stakeholders including donors, Indigenous community members, government, corporate stakeholders and contractors
- Ability to quickly develop an understanding of Commonwealth and State laws applicable to the study and preservation of Aboriginal Cultural Heritage materials
- Charitable and for-purpose experience – not critical, but experience would be viewed favourably
