Job description
The Operations Manager will ensure outstanding customer service standards are achieved and safety and operational targets are met in line with KPI’s. Additionally, you will demonstrate a strong aptitude for leading, developing and fostering inclusive, innovative and high performing teams and will identify and deliver continuous improvement initiatives.
The role:
Manage the Darwin operation
Control and oversee all aspects of operations, transport and warehousing
Business planning, budgeting and achievement of financial objectives
Support workforce planning and rostering
Responsible for team management/engagement
Ensure optimal asset utilisation
Oversee the recruitment and onboarding processes for all site personnel
Drive talent management and performance to promote succession planning
High level people engagement, mentoring and leadership
Conduct regular toolbox talks
Conduct regular performance reviews
Ensure inventory control is managed , maintained with cyclic audits
Ensure site compliance audits, inspections are completed
Proactive risk identification, optimisation, tracking and reporting
Developing a safety first and continuous improvement culture
Assist with the development of new business
Analyse & review operational reporting and provide recommendations on performance efficiencies
Monitor capital expenditures
What you will bring:
Minimum 5 years’ experience in a transport operations role
Bachelor or diploma in business or logistics or similar
Strong transport and logistics background
Proven experience in people leadership.
Solid understanding of the transport business sector
Excellent commercial, P&L management, change management, interpersonal and communication skills
Proven experience managing a compliant and fast paced operation
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organisational skills
Proficient using Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and basic WMS/TMS software
KPI driven, ability to achieve goals and exceed expectations
Knowledge and understanding of NHVAS, CoR (Fatigue Management, Load planning and Mass Management)
