Due to continued growth and success, we have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Operations Manager to lead site transport operations, based at Katanning WA. You will be responsible for ensuring the site runs smoothly and efficiently in line with company policies, procedures, and objectives. You will provide leadership in the delivery of quality logistics services to customers whilst meeting business objectives, in accordance with the Company Quality Management System (QMS) and DIFOT.
Key Responsibilities
- Leading people and equipment resources across the transport function to meet customer and business requirements.
- Manage the effective, efficient and safe scheduling and planning of the fleet to meet customer requirements and business objectives
- Ensure that the company complies with legislative requirements including but not limited to driver fatigue, mass and weight management, load restraints and other relevant safety standards.
- Ensure mandatory driver training is undertaken, recorded, and updated as required.
- Liaise and collaborate with transport management to facilitate a seamless and efficient transfer of stock from the warehouse to vehicles for transportation.
- Ensuring procedures, processes, and practices are performed in line with our quality management system.
- Ensuring workers hold current licenses and certificates of competency in line with legislative and company requirements and are adequately trained to work safely and efficiently.
- Managing the performance of your direct reports and their teams against business objectives and key performance indicators (KPIs)
- Overseeing day-to-day operational/administrative procedures as well as overall site performance and security
- Regular reviewing of revenue and costs reports including the identification of any discrepancies for action
- Responsible for profit and loss of the site, including reporting requirements, and taking corrective action as required to ensure financial objectives are met.
- Identifying, evaluating, and implementing continuous improvement opportunities to maximise the efficiency and productivity of the site.
- Ensure compliance with all OH&S requirements and adhering to the company Occupational Health & Safety Policy
About you
Here are the skills and attributes you'll need to be considered for this role.
- At least 3 years' experience in a similar role
- Experience managing and evaluating the performance of staff and processes against key performance indicators (KPIs)
- Previous management experience in a Transport business and knowledge of Basic Fatigue Management (BFM), Mass and Maintenance
- Commitment to customer service
- Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills and the ability to influence.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain financial objectives, including frequent P&L reporting and corrective actions to ensure P&L objectives are met
- Strong and sound decision making in high pressure situations
- Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast paced environment.
- Well-developed planning, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated ability to lead a team to deliver business objectives.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to prepare reports and interpret data.
- Sound computer knowledge including proficiency in the use of the Microsoft Office suite and transport management systems
