Operations Manager - Registered Aboriginal Party (Rap)

The main responsibilities of the Operations Manager, RAP are to supervise the field team of the RAP Unit, including the Program Coordinators. The Operations Manager, RAP is responsible for managing the development of the Field Services Officer Team, day to day support of operational staff, and overarching supervision of the field operations by providing oversight, guidance, and instruction to the Field Services Officer Team.

Key Duties

• Ownership, accountability, and responsibility for the Field Services Officer team within the RAP Unit
• Leadership Management of the Field Services Officer team, including; team leadership, compliance with TLaWC policy and process, performance management, OH&S, and supporting safe operational practices and environments
• Develop, support, and monitor the implementation of professional development plans for the Field Services Officers and Program Coordinators.
• Take responsibility for completing on-site works in accordance with approved CHMPs to meet both sponsor expectations and TLaWC standards of practice
• Oversee the implementation of the field assessment methodology agreed to by the Heritage Unit, Cultural Heritage Advisor and Sponsor
• Provide input regarding TLaWC policy concerning Cultural Heritage Management (CHM) to RAP Unit
• Provide reports back to the RAP Unit on the results of any field assessment or land management activity.
• Contribute to and support the improvement of processes and systems within the Unit
• To participate in all training for the role, including OH&S, Construction Induction, First Aid, Rail Track Awareness and other training as required
• Attendance at meetings on site and in the Alexandra Office
• Oversee other Natural resource management, LUAA and field work as required
• Regular liaison with the Program Coordinator – Bookings and Engagement, RAP; Program Coordinator – Technical, RAP; Program Coordinator- Logistics, RAP to ensure implementation of all operational aspects of the RAP Unit programs of works
• Any other on-country duties, as directed by the Director, RAP

General

• Comply with all safety policies, procedures and work instructions to support a safe work environment for all staff

Role Requirements

• Walking long distances over difficult terrain while carrying equipment
• Ability to lift and/or carry up to approximately 20kgs including chainsaws, hand tools, power tools
• Ability to work for sustained periods in repetitive movements for example bending, kneeling, lifting, gripping
• Tasks that involve a degree of flexibility such as walking on uneven surfaces
• Driving off road across a variety of landscapes and gradients
• Long periods of time spent sedentary at a desk
• Reasonable level of health and fitness required to perform the inherent requirements of the role
