Solberg Asia Pacific Pty Ltd, a division of Perimeter Solutions, is the global leader of fluorine-free fire fighting foam and fire retardants. Due to continued growth in Australia, New Zealand and Asia, a new role is being created to further assist with the expansion of Solberg business in the region.
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Operations Manager will work under the supervision of the VP/General Manager. The primary responsibility is to assist with the Supply Chain associated with Production Planning, local and international Ordering and Logistics, product and raw material Import Planning and to ensure all plant and supply chain inventories reconcile with financial statements. Additional key responsibilities include providing developmental leadership with the expectation of providing direction and management to the warehouse, customer service and administrative staff in the areas of safety, quality customer service and productivity.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Serve as a liaison between sales team and warehouse staff based at 2 NSW located warehouse, as well as liaise with USA and Spain Production teams.
- Ensure all operations are conducted appropriately and cost-effectively.
- Assist with production planning for fire suppression foam and retardants and the associated logistics for Australia and the APAC region.
- Manage supply chain and purchase of raw materials locally as well as finished products globally through Perimeter Solutions companies based in USA and Spain. Create requisitions for materials and services and maintain shipment records.
- Plan inventory, lead and manage warehouse products and raw material budgets and forecasts.
- Formulate strategic and operational objectives to improve operational management systems, processes, and best practices.
- Examine financial data and use to improve profitability and processes.
- Perform quality controls and monitor production KPIs.
- Recruit, train and supervise a small team of warehouse and administration staff.
- Manage Operations of St Mary’s Warehouse, as well as support warehouse logistics officer and Quality Control for primary warehouse in St Marys, NSW and the 2nd Australian warehouse in Lavington, NSW.
- Track and forecast Inventory needs for Australia, as well as managed stock holding at 3rd party warehouses.
- Track and Receive Incoming Raw Materials and Finished Goods. Audit and record the current book/physical for all finished products and Record and Control Changes in the Supply Chain Inventories
- Manage Quality Assurance requirements – ensure testing is completed and reported, as well as an overview of QA lab/equipment.
- Participate in efforts to ensure that company facilities comply with appropriate safety, environmental and other legislation pertinent to manufacturing and storage.
- Perform Inventory Variance Analysis.
EXPERIENCE/SKILLS REQUIRED
- Minimum 2 years of Operations Management – ideally in a fire/manufacturing/production environment (but not essential).
- Minimum 5 years of Supervisory experience.
- Minimum 10 years of Customer service experience.
- Highly organized with the ability to manage priorities and coordinate multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong leadership skills and motivational qualities to direct employees toward production goals.
- Must be a team player and can effectively interact with all levels of the organization as well as key stakeholders, vendors and customers.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work Autonomously.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- The selected candidate must embrace change.
- Experience with order fulfilment, work orders, issuing parts, item receipts, etc. through a CRM or similar.
- High level of accuracy and ability to demonstrate a strong sense of urgency and responsiveness to meet business demands.
- Strong Computer Skills in Microsoft Word and Excel.
EDUCATION:
- University Degree Education preferred (but not essential).
- Forklift License (not essential – training will be provided - but may be required to assist warehouse logistic operations in times of high operational capacity).
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- This position will have primary oversight of St Marys, NSW warehouse, but may require some travel to a 2nd Lavington, NSW-based warehouse 4-6 times a year. (Once operationally established a hybrid role may be an option)
- Extended work periods may occur during period-end closing & fire season (October to March)
- Flexibility to cover infrequent after-hours if needed for Emergency Supply requests.
- The nature of the business may expose the employee to moderate levels of physical and mental stress.
