Working as part of the Warehouse Operations Team and reporting to the Warehouse Operations Manager, the Stock Controller will support internal stakeholders with inventory or repairable queries and manage the distribution, coordination, and management of materials for maintenance and project works.
This position will suit a motivated warehousing and inventory professional with a background in a maintenance and operations environment. The role will be required to complete tasks within given timeframes, communicating effectively with stakeholders to ensure a high level of customer service.
About the role
Based out of the V/Line Lara Depot this is a permanent full-time position and a great gateway into V/Line with future career progression opportunities. Join the collaborative, friendly and easy-going warehouse operations team. This role works 7:30am -3:30pm, Monday – Friday.
Key Accountabilities include:
- Participate and coordinate the cycle count process.
- Monitor stock levels and assist with setting inventory parameters.
- Raise exemptions, transfer orders, work orders and relevant system transactions.
- Maintain accurate purchasing related documents relating to PO receipts, conformance certificates and delivery dockets.
- Investigate stock discrepancies and implement inventory control regimes.
- Work closely with Commercial team and other stakeholders to review and maintain item master attributes.
About you
You are a motivated team player with a positive and friendly attitude. You have excellent Verbal and Written Communication skills and the ability to successfully build relationships with a variety of stakeholders.
Our ideal candidate will have:
- Warehousing/inventory experience in a maintenance and operations environment.
- Intermediate level MS word and Excel skills are essential.
- Previous experience with an ERP stock management system (JDE would be advantageous)
- Must have current driver’s license.
- Forklift licence is desirable.

The Remuneration for this position will be in line with the V/Line Rail Operations and Administrative Employees Agreement 2019 at a Clerk C1 ($37.62 per hour or approximately $83,915.55 per annum total package inc superannuation and leave loading)
This is a permanent, full-time opportunity with 4-weeks annual leave, superannuation, and free myki for metro & regional travel.

Recruitment Timelines
This role is a Medical Category 3 position.
The recruitment and selection process will include a safety aptitude assessment prior to the interview rounds.
If you are successful in obtaining an interview, this will be conducted on site at the Lara Depot.
Successful applicants will be required to undergo pre-employment screening including, probity (police) checks, a medical assessment, and Australian entitlement to work. Employees of V/Line are required to maintain a valid Working with Children Check Victoria (Employee) for the duration of employment.
This is an urgent requirement, and the selection process will begin immediately. The expected start date for this role will be from early April.
