Based out of our Berrimah Depot, we are looking for an Operations Supervisor to provide operational support to drivers, ensure Transport operations, and support activities associated with providing a reliable, effective and professional transport service that meets customer and company contractual requirements.
Ideal Candidate:
You will have well-developed oral and written English communication skills, with an ability to liaise effectively with a wide range of diverse range of people and a demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team in a fast-changing environment. You will ideally have experience in a similar position in the transport industry. Operations Supervisors are rostered in a 7-day rotating roster.
It would be advantageous if you have a MR licence with ‘h’ endorsement and a current Ochre (Working with Children) card.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Support Drivers and Special Needs Transit Carers (operators) in the performance of their duties, ensuring they present for work in uniform, in a professional manner to CDC’s standards, and have the tools and up to date paperwork they require to carry out their allocated shift.
- Responsible for ensuring all CDC personnel comply with their fitness for duty obligations, including fatigue management, quarantining those that fail to comply, and following CDC’s procedures in respect of the Fitness for Duty procedure.
- Cover all driver absences, planned and unplanned, utilising resources available to minimise driver downtime resulting in shifts being carried out as scheduled.
- Monitor operator signing-on processes to be immediately alerted to driver ‘no-shows’ (unplanned absences)
- Monitor CDC’s 2-Way Radio, responding to calls from operators, in the most appropriate manner to the situation in accordance with CDC’s procedures, including swapping buses and/or drivers out in the event of an emergency, bus breakdown, sickness, etc.
- Respond to and resolve on-road non-conformance issues, reporting issues in accordance with CDC’s procedures, e.g.: bus overloads, non-compliant runs etc.
- Respond to emergency situations, in accordance with CDC’s procedures, in conjunction with Management, Transit Security, Police, and Emergency Services as required.
- Allocation of urban buses to urban shifts, make changes to the allocation of school buses to school shifts as needed – keeping a record of all bus swap changes – electronically and hard copy.
- Liaise with operations, workshop, wash bay, and training to ensure departments have access to vehicles as required and manage fleet accordingly.
- Answer general enquiries from the public e.g.: lost property, timetable, and network enquiries, including reviewing electronic bus tracking (GPS) to assist with enquiries.
- Make sure charter and special events paperwork is completed correctly by drivers before handing completed paperwork to Management for invoicing.
