The Union is seeking to employ an Organiser to work in the Central Coast region. As Australia’s largest private sector trade Union, we have more than 13,000 members in the Newcastle & Northern Branch, and over 200,000 members nationwide. Our members work in the retail, fast food and warehouse industries. Approximately half of our members are young people under the age of 25 years.
JOB ROLE
You will work as part of a close-knit team of union officials to support our members and workplace Delegates. You are a passionate unionist, determined to grow member voice by increasing SDA membership across our region.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- To build the Union by recruiting new members
- To represent and act on behalf of members who have workplace grievances or seek assistance
- To identify, develop and support workplace Delegates
- To encourage Delegates and members to be active in their workplace and participate in union campaigns
- To protect and win better workplace rights for all members
- To educate workers and support them in enforcing their rights at work
- To be a vocal advocate for industrial, economic and social issues in the interests of all members, including young workers, women and casuals.
- To be a strong, fair and effective ambassador for the union
The successful candidate will be offered a competitive salary package starting at $84,187 per annum, with above minimum leave and superannuation policies and a vehicle with all associated running costs, supplied as a tool of trade.
