Located in Dandenong South we areseeking an experienced Overseas purchasing and Inventory Planner

Purpose

As the Overseas Purchasing and Inventory Planner reporting into the supply Chain Manager, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the integrity of our manufacturing and procurement process by maintaining rigorous control over our imported and indent raw materials and stock. You will be responsible for maintaining inventory levels, placing orders with our overseas and local raw material suppliers, managing the shipment and import process and overseeing and coordinating these movements within our organization.

Key Accountabilities

• Analysis monitoring and forecasting of stock and Inventory to ensure adequate stock levels are available for production. 
• Review shortage reports and expedite purchase orders on an urgent basis.
• Raising purchase orders and communicating with overseas and local suppliers as required to ensure a timely and efficient supply of raw materials. 
• Liaising with overseas freight forwarders and clearing agent on overseas consignments for timely deliveries.
• Liaising with internal finance department for overseas consignment payments.
• Liaising with internal receiving department in managing overseas and local raw material consignments to warehouse. 
• Review ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) reports / data as required to interpret, query and understand future demand and demand patterns for imported and locally sourced raw materials. 
• Calculate and analyze raw material costings to establish strategies for local / Overseas Purchasing options.  
• Planning cycle counts and overseeing integrity of inventory records for imported and locally sourced raw materials. 
• Identify inventory reduction opportunities with suppliers and plan for onsite inventory to be minimum. 
• Take proactive prevention measures with regards to raw material shortages. 
• Identify and conduct continuous improvement projects aligned to departmental goals and KPI’s.

Qualifications and Experience 

• Minimum 3 years’ experience in demand analysis, supply planning, Overseas/ local Purchasing and managing raw materials within a manufacturing environment.   
• Prior experience in a multi – disciplinary manufacturing facility (Sheet metal desirable)
• Demonstrated proficiency in inventory management practices, reporting tools, statistics, and forecasting methods.
• Able to be analytical with regards to problem-solving.
• Capability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Able to work unsupervised. 
• Good time management skills with the ability to plan and schedule tasks. 
• High level of attention to detail, effective communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
• Good administration and organizational skills.
• Able to work as part of a team and show initiative. 
• Able to follow company policies and procedures. 
• Good computer skills (Microsoft Office Package with strong MS Excel skills) with sound understanding and working skills on ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) systems.
