Staff Specialist - PediatricianPOSITION Staff Specialist - PediatricianDEPARTMENT: Fairfield Integrated Child & Family Hub OPERATIONAL BASE: CarramarHOURS: 8 hours per fortnightSTATUS: This appointment is a temporary 12-month contract with possibility of extension VACCINATION CATEGORY: A (including full COVID-19 – 2 doses and influenza) Vaccinations) RESPONSIBLE TO: ICH Manager through to Director Clinical ServicesPURPOSE OF POSITION Provide clinical management and treatment of clients in a Karitane facility under your care. This care will be provided within the scope of practice granted by the SWSLHD Medical and Dental Appointments Advisory Committee.
KEY SELECTION CRITERIA ( each criteria must be addressed in your cover letter) 1. Current medical practitioner, registered, or eligible for registration, with the Medical Board of Australia and Fellow of The Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP)and/or current specialist qualifications as recognised by the Health Insurance Commission) 2. Demonstrated current clinical practice of a high standard and ability to adapt clinical practice in accordance with contemporary evidence based best practice 3. Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement, client safety and risk management 4. Demonstrated commitment to continuing self-education and development, including evidence of participation in continuing medical education / continuing professional development. 5. Experience in the clinical assessment and management of early childhood health issues 6. Evidence of ability to work cooperatively with other staff and practitioners and in a multidisciplinary health care team to provide integrated care to children and families. 7. Understanding of the principles of early intervention, prevention and health promotion 8. Demonstrated ability to work with clients from CALD and refugee backgrounds in a culturally safe manner. 9. Demonstrated ability to comply with the service objectives of a public health organisation, including the provision of services to the local community, effective utilisation of resources, and preparedness to participate in the provision of health services at an Area level, if credentialed 10. Current NSW driver's licence.

- Recognised specialist qualifications - Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and/or equivalent specialist recognition. Suitable applicants who are expected to be awarded their Fellowship within six months will be considered and Advanced Trainees nearing completion of their training are encouraged to apply.
- Demonstrated recent clinical experience and competence in general paediatric medicine including acute care, neonatal care and outpatient general paediatrics (including learning, development and behavioural medicine). Demonstrated interest and skills in paediatric service development, innovative models of care, and project leadership is desirable.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and build collaborative partnerships towards a successful outcome
- Strong skills in training and capacity building with demonstrated commitment and skills in teaching, continuing self-education, research and quality improvement.
- Demonstrated effective clinical and interpersonal communication skills including effective written, verbal and interpersonal skills and use of information technology.
- Demonstrated commitment to patient safety.
- Availability to participate in an on-call roster and to respond on site within a reasonable time and current licence to drive in NSW.
