About the role
The Leading Hand is accountable for ensuring workers under their direction are provided with, and understand, a clear plan to deliver on their responsibilities in full, on time to standard, all in a safe working environment.
Key objectives & responsibilities:
- Ensure all personnel under their control are advised of production targets and goals and receive clear direction with regards to work deadlines.
- Liaise with other trades to ensure work is coordinated and carries out efficiently and the work force is fully utilised.
- Communicate any possible delays or early completions to time frames as soon as possible to the relevant stakeholders
- Create summarising reports on what has been achieved and the goals for tomorrow
- Product conformance prior to customer check - work complete in full to standard.
- Carry out project reviews for tasks relating to their trade in conjunction with the Manager
- Promote and drive a culture of continual improvement (share successes) and actively eliminate waste.
- Act on HSEQ incidents reported, share lesson learnt.
- Identifying opportunities for improvement and waste reduction.
- Lead / influence team - provide constructive feedback on performance.
Required Skills / Experience / Attributes:
- Trades qualification
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in same or similar role
- Previous experience in heavy industry
- Possesses good time management skills and ability to lead a team
- Capable of performing work in a safe and acceptable manner
- Demonstrates adequate theoretical knowledge
Desirable:
- Previous experience in the Marine Repair industry
- Senior First Aid, CPR, EWP and Forklift Certification
