About the Role
The Legal Services Branch is responsible for delivery of professional legal advice and services.
Undertake paralegal, leasing and conveyancing duties under minimal supervision from senior legal officers and provide confidential and professional high level administrative assistance to facilitate the effective and efficient operation of Council’s Legal Services Branch.
Key Duties
- Undertake both standard and complex paralegal leasing, conveyancing and delegated signatory duties under minimal supervision from senior legal officers including conduct of matters, liaison with clients, preparation of legal documentation and general administration duties, including registrations, searches and other dealings.
- Independently draft correspondence and legal documentation adopting and adapting appropriate precedents and formats for the purchase and sale of Council real estate, land transactions, registration of freehold and state leases and attendances relating to easements and road resumptions.
- Take instructions and liaise with representatives from other branches (e.g. Property Management Branch and Strategic Property) and external law firms to gather relevant information to facilitate excellent conveyancing outcomes.
- Establish and maintain an effective legal information management system, including an electronic legal precedent database and legal opinions database.
About you
- You will possess a tertiary qualification in Business Administration, Local Government or Law or other relevant disciplines and/or extensive equivalent relevant experience.
- You will have demonstrated paralegal, leasing and conveyancing experience and knowledge of legal procedures, documentation, terminology and relevant legislation.
- You will have experience in conducting legal matters under minimal supervision, including file conduct through to completion, stamping, attendance at settlement, preparation of legal documentation and correspondence in various property matters .
- You will demonstrate problem solving ability, including the ability to prioritise work and meet regular deadlines under pressure, with accuracy and attention to detail.
