Payrate: $33.65/ph Position Description: To maintain, upgrade and rehabilitate garden beds and open space assets in accordance to service specifications and be multi skilled across the various Parks Services to meet operational priorities. Duties and responsibilities:
Provide excellent service to all external and internal customers.
Ensure the maintenance and upgrading of specific garden areas are carried out efficiently and effectively in accordance with service guidelines and specifications.
The proper operation and maintenance of machinery and plant.
Comply with Occupational Health and Safety legislative standards.
Make technical/horticultural decisions to ensure agreed service and productivity levels are met
Demonstrate relevant operating procedures and techniques and lead by example.
Assist other Parks Service's and Operation's team members as required and participate in rotation amongst Parks activities to address demand in department's/area workloads.
Participate in the Council's Performance Development and Review process. This involves planning and agreeing work and skill development objectives, and reviewing and assessing achievements on a regular basis.
The Gardener may also be required to carry out other such duties as are within the limits of the employee's skills, competence and training. These will be discussed as part of the Performance Development Review (PDR) process.
Adhere to policies and procedures to minimise injury and damage to assets and property.
Adhere to Council's Health and Safety, equal opportunity and risk management policies, plans and procedures as well as act in accordance with the Charter of Human Rights.
Actively participate in reporting matters of health, safety and Council asset damage.
Demonstrate and promote workplace behaviour that does not discriminate, bully or harass.

Qualifications and Experience:
Demonstrated experience in gardening work.
Advanced certificate in horticultural or other related discipline.
Current drivers licence for up to 4.5 tonne GC or willingness to obtain.
Vic Roads Road Side Traffic Management and Traffic Control Training.
