ABOUT YOUR NEW ROLE:
The Pastoral Care Team is responsible for the provision of a caring and supportive personal service to patients, encompassing their physical, psychological/emotional, social, and spiritual existence. The Hospital Pastoral Care service covers all wards Monday to Friday with occasional Sunday work. We have a Catholic Chaplain on duty five days per week. We currently have casual positions available, negotiable for the right candidate/s.
Responsibilities will include (but will not be limited to);
- Provide initial and ongoing Pastoral Care support to patients, displaying a high degree of compassion with excellent interpersonal skills.
- Contribute as a team member to establish effective working relationships with Hospital personnel and professional colleagues
- Be a support for staff on allocated floors and respond to requests for support as they arise.
- Participate in and contribute to the development and implementation of Pastoral Care quality activities.
- Completion of a tertiary level qualification or an equivalent combination of relevant qualification/s and relevant experience
- Completion of a recognised Clinical / Pastoral Training Program or equivalent, with further Theological Education desirable
- Demonstrated experience in the Pastoral Care of patients and staff, within the hospital environment.
- Effective presentation skills and a warm, engaging personality
- Ability to empathise with and relate to people from all walks of life.
