Our iconic European style bakery and cafe has been waking up the main street with the smell of fresh croissants and coffee since the 1960s.
We are now looking for a motivated and committed PASTRY COOK to join our team. We have a great team and a motivating working environment. Our staff turnover is low, because many of our staff like to stay with us long term!
The right person for this position has an AQF Certificate III including at least two years of on-the-job training, or AQF Certificate IV in a highly relevant course. You will also need at least 2 years of work experience as a Pastry Cook in the last 5 years. Duties:
- Before starting the production work, you will check the operation of the premises to make sure occupational health and safety regulations are complied with.
- For that same reason; before using any equipment, you will check the cleanliness of it.
- When materials and products arrive, you will check the invoice, the weight and quality of the materials/products and report to the Head Pastry Chef and/or supplier if anything is incorrect.
- You will operate rolling and dough moulding machines.
- You will work with dough and pastry goods, which includes but is not limited to mixing, cutting, shaping, baking, kneading, moulding, maturing, glazing and decorating them with icing, cream, chocolate sauce and other products.
- You will also be coordinating the forming, loading, baking, unloading, de-panning and cooling of batches of bread, rolls and pastry products.
- You will prepare pastry fillings and fill and bake pastry.
- When baking, you regularly check the baking times, oven temperatures and appearance of the products being baked, to make sure they are taken out at the correct time.
- Cleaning duties such as emptying, cleaning and greasing baking trays, tins and other cooking equipment.
- Ordering products
- Checking stock levels
- Any other duties relevant to your role may be applicable.
You will be required to work some weekend days as part of your ongoing 5-day-a-week roster.
