About the Role
We are seeking a Payroll Officer to join our collaborative payroll team and play a key role in the end-to-end payroll process.
Reporting to the Payroll Manager, you will work closely with the team to deliver payroll services, compliance, and processing.
Key responsibilities will include-
- Customer Service: You will ensure that any employee queries are responded to promptly and that they are provided with accurate expert advice.
- Record maintenance: Updating and maintaining payroll records and data
- Stakeholder Engagement and Communication: Interact and collaborate effectively with direct team members (Payroll Manager, Senior Payroll Officer, and other Payroll Officers) as well as other key business stakeholders from People & Culture and Operations
- Month-end procedures: Ensure all payroll-related month-end information is available to relevant Finance team members and other stakeholders in a timely manner
- Cross-skilling: Over time, we see an opportunity to gain exposure to tasks within the Accounts Payable team given the overlap with contractors and employment law obligations
Skills and Experience:
To be successful in the role your skills and experience will include-
- Experience with high-volume payroll processing.
- Ability to explain complex issue, simply
- High level of interpersonal, verbal, and written communication
- Innovative in problem-solving
- Stay up-to-date with payroll regulations and best practices
- Understanding termination payments
- Strong numerical and analytical skills, as well as attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficiency in using payroll software and systems, as well as Microsoft Excel and other accounting tools.
- Knowledge of payroll legislation, regulations, and standards, such as the Fair Work Act, the Superannuation Guarantee, and the PAYG withholding system.
- A current National Police Check, as they may be handling sensitive and confidential information.
- Advantages to have exposure to financial accounting and accounts payable processing.
