About the opportunity
The Payroll Officer is responsible for ensuring timely and accurate payroll processing, managing employee onboarding and termination and handling payroll inquiries. You'll also manage statutory obligations, including Payroll Tax, Portable Long Service Leave and Superannuation. The Payroll Officer shall also maintain our TechnologyOne HRIS system and provide comprehensive payroll reporting.
With flexibility regarding the location, there is an opportunity to work within our offices and from home.
Location: Can be based at Brisbane South, Gold Coast (QLD) or Gipplsand (VIC) Region

Being a Payroll Officer involves:
Specific responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Carry out the end to end management of the fortnightly payrun, including timesheet and auto-pay employees; encompassing STP requirements.
- Ensure fortnightly payrun processes are undertaken within the appropriate delegation and that approval issues are identified and escalated in a timely manner.
- Management of the montly superannuation process via the use of a clearing house.
- Complete payroll end of month and end of year processing, liaising with the Finance Team to ensure reconciliation, and meeting applicable FBT reporting requirements.
- Maintain employee masterfile (payroll personnel) records within the cloud-based payroll solution.
- Input of onboarding information for new employees and changes in details information for existing employees; checking to ensure no errors based on information provided by the employee.
- Communicate with and action information from the external salary packaging provider.
- Provide accurate advice to management regarding industrial relations from a payroll application perspective.

- A strong service-minded approach with the ability to build relationships across all levels.
- Relevant experience within the payroll function.
- Strong knowledge of payroll legislation, procedures and reporting requirements.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
- Experience in TechnologyOne is desirable but not essential.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
