Working closely with the Human Resources team, the Payroll Officer is responsible for advising and consulting on changes to industrial awards and legislation. The position is required to analyse and extract payroll related data to assist with ongoing business reporting, financial/payroll processes and continuous improvement in line with organisational objectives and to ensure payroll related risks are minimised and avoided.
Position Description
- Accurate and timely processing of payroll for approximately 1,000 employees in accordance with the terms and conditions of the relevant award and all legislative requirements
- Processing of new starter and position change paperwork
- Calculation of termination payments
- Provide assistance and resolution to our retail teams with their payroll queries in a timely, friendly, and accurate manner
- Preparation and lodgement of PAYG, Payroll Tax and Superannuation
- Ensuring that all payroll components are costed to the relevant general ledger accounts and reconciled
- Experience with Chris21 or iChris is preferred
- Proven ability to identify areas of manual processing for process improvement initiatives
- Demonstrated experience dealing with financial and numerical data
- Strong ability to analyse issues and problem solve
- Ability to prioritise workloads to meet tight deadlines
- High level of attention to detail
- Intermediate Excel skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated customer service skills with both internal and external stakeholders
