About the Role: We are seeking an experienced Payroll Officer to step into a multifaceted role that offers complete ownership of the end-to-end-payroll function. Outside of your primary duties, you will dedicate your time to support the Accounts Team or provide support HR initiatives (dependent on your experience). This is a Hybrid Role, where flexible hours will be considered in your 4-day (Part-Time) work week. This can be increased to a 5-day work week if desired. You will balance your time between home and our Brisbane office based in Stones Corner. Please note that only candidates residing in Brisbane or its immediate vicinity will be considered, as onsite presence is required for this role to ensure seamless collaboration and integration within our Brisbane team, fostering long-term commitment and engagement while promoting a healthy work-life balance.
Despite being stand-alone, you'll receive ongoing support from our dedicated Finance & Admin team (face-to-face with the Brisbane team and remotely from our Dalby Head office), ensuring you have the resources to excel. This hybrid position offers variety and flexibility, supporting a long-term commitment to RSA. Handover and ongoing training provided.
You will be responsible for:
- End-to-end payroll processing for 100+ staff (paid fortnightly) including calculating terminations, reviewing timesheets, managing leave entitlements.
- Managing high-level payroll activities such as job costings (approx. 160 active tracking categories), payroll tax, superannuation, worker's compensation and reporting etc.
- Onboarding and offboarding tasks in the payroll system.
- Accurately interpreting and applying Australian Awards and Taxation legislation.
- Oversee the administration of HRIS & Payroll systems in collaboration with the HR Officer.
- Undertake Accounts or HR support tasks when required to assist the team.
Your Qualification & Experience
- Solid experience in a high-level payroll role for 100+ staff is a must (experience within the civil construction or similar industry highly desirable).
- Ability to meet high-level payroll activities within strict timelines and schedules.
- Advanced understanding/knowledge of leave accruals and tax, payroll standards and legislation.
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word and Excel).
- Experience with Xero and Employment Hero Payroll programs advantageous.
- Willingness to take on duties to further support the HR function of the business.
