The Opportunity
Southern Cross Care (Tasmania) Inc., has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Payroll Officer within our Finance team based in our Hobart office.
As Payroll Officer you are responsible for accurately processing the organisation's payroll, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations, and maintaining payroll records. This role involves collaborating with various departments to gather necessary information, resolving payroll discrepancies, and providing support to employees regarding payroll-related inquiries.
Payroll Officer
The Payroll Officer will work as a member of the Payroll team and will assist in the efficient and effective processing and administration of the organisation’s payroll and salary packaging functions in accordance with legislative requirements and the organisation’s approved policies and procedures. There may be opportunities to act in the Senior Payroll Officer role in periods of absence.
Key responsibilities of this role include:
- Timely and accurate processing of end-to-end payroll tasks, including salary packaging, leave management and superannuation
- Respond to staff wage and salary queries
- Interpreting and applying terms and conditions of awards and Enterprise Agreement
- Preparation of superannuation statements
- Assist managers by providing necessary reports
- Other tasks assigned by the Payroll Manager or senior management
Compliance requirements:
- Previous experience in a similar role and industrial environment
- Experience using Chris 21 and Optima is desirable
- Satisfactory national police check (within the previous three months)
- Tasmanian Working with Vulnerable People registration, with NDIS endorsement
- If you are on a visa, a copy of your current IMMI Letter
