The Opportunity
We have a fantastic 5 month contract for a Payroll Support Officer to join Foundation Civil and Mining in Traralgon, with an immediate start available. While this is a temporary contract, there is potential for ongoing engagement.
Foundation Civil and Mining was established in Traralgon in 2016 and has since grown to a team of over 90 employees. Over this time, they have successfully completed a variety of mining, civil and small building projects in conjunction with associated support services in the Latrobe Valley mining sector. They are seeking a dynamic and organised individual to join their team as a full or part-time Payroll Support Officer. The successful candidate will be someone who is highly motivated and can work with efficiency, accuracy and reliability from our mine based offices.
About the Role
As the Payroll Support Officer at FCM, your primary responsibility will be ensuring the accurate and timely processing of the company’s weekly payroll and associated functions. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, you will work alongside our Finance and Admin Coordinator day to day. You will be responsible for end-to-end payroll processing of timesheets, pay runs and associated tasks.
About You
Our ideal candidate has considerable experience in payroll, particularly in an enterprise agreement workforce with an exposure on how to correctly interpret and apply EBA conditions. You'll be proactive in solving problems and bring with you strong organisational and communication skills, attention to detail, and proficiency in Xero and Microsoft Excel.
Some of your key responsibilities will include:
- Processing payroll on a weekly and ad hoc basis, accurately and in a timely manner
- Learn, interpret and apply EBA conditions (such as loadings, allowances and penalties) to payroll data entry
- Ensuring consistent and accurate data input, adhering to legal obligations and payroll rules
- Maintaining all payroll and employee records
- Processing and reconciling leave records and accruals
- Processing ad-hoc reports, and other requests as required
- Assisting with payroll-related projects, tasks and initiatives as assigned
Skills and Experience (Selection Criteria)
The successful candidate will have the following attributes, however not limited to:
- Proven experience in end-to-end processing of Payroll within previous roles
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel & Xero (at least intermediate level skill)
- Experience interpreting and applying EBA conditions to Payroll activities
- Must be proactive in trouble shooting and communication
- Trustworthy, self-motivated, with the ability to work autonomously in completing tasks efficiently and reliably
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Strong organisational and multi-tasking abilities without compromising priorities
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in completing tasks
- Professional demeanour with strong interpersonal skills
- Confident computer and software literacy
Position Specific Requirements
This position has the following specific requirements:
- Current Drivers Licence or the ability to travel independently without limitation

- Satisfactory completion of 2 professional reference checks
- National Police Check
