About the role
The Payroll Officer is primarily responsible for processing the organisation’s fortnightly payroll (approx. 70 employees, permanent and casual), ensuring that the organisation’s payroll processes are compliant with all relevant legal requirements in relation to employees’ pay and entitlements, and communicating and implementing any changes in line with any legislative or industrial updates.
The Payroll Officer is responsible for processing fortnightly pay to staff and completing all required reports and payments associated with payroll, including superannuation, Instalment Activity Statements, salary packaging, Portable Long Service Leave and WorkCover. As the Payroll Officer, your role is to ensure the accuracy of data processing, and to address employee inquiries with precision and in a timely manner. The Payroll Officer is responsible for inputting and maintaining employees’ pay and entitlement details within MYOB. The Payroll Officer will also be responsible for tasks relating to Accounts Payable and Receivable, working in collaboration with the Finance Officer.
This is currently a part-time position, 5 days (38 hours) a fortnight. Tuesday and Wednesday are required as full working days on pay week, but there is some flexibility in hours of work throughout the rest of the fortnight. This role is required ongoing, and we expect that the position will increase to a full-time permanent role in future; as such, this position will initially be implemented in 6-monthly contract/s to facilitate the likely increases in required hours.
Salary is as per the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services (SCHADS) Industry Award 2010. Classification: Social and Community Services Employee, Level 4, with Pay Point based on years of experience.

It is essential that the successful applicant has relevant and comprehensive payroll experience, and in-depth knowledge of MYOB and experience in using MYOB to process payroll and to generate reports. Knowledge and experience completing the tasks and reports listed above are essential, as is experience in working with salary sacrifice, Portable Long Service Leave and WorkCover.
We are seeking an applicant with excellent written and verbal communication skills, who can work flexibly in response to changing priorities, and with time management skills that enable them to prioritise and complete tasks by required deadlines. Respect for privacy and confidentiality are an essential component of this role. Experience in the disability sector is a bonus.
