Our Journey
The team consists of both clinical and non clinical staff including Psychosocial Workers and now Consumer Peer Workers, and family Peer Worker. We are seeking a Level 3Peer Worker to join the HOPE usicide prevention program. In this role you will peer support for people who are identified as having presented with a suicide or self-harm attempt, or suicidal or intentional self-harm ideation.
About Us & The Role
The Monash Adult Mental Health Program Hospital Outreach Post-suicidal Engagement (HOPE) initiative provides psychosocial support for people who are identified as having presented with a suicide or self-harm attempt, or suicidal or intentional self-harm ideation. The HOPE Consumer Peer Worker - Level 3 role has been developed specifically for people who have lived experience of mental ill health and recovery that may include suicidal ideation or attempt. Within a relationship of mutuality and information sharing, the Consumer Peer Worker - Level 3 will promote choice, self-determination and opportunities for consumers to seek or maintain socially valued roles and connections in their local communities.
The Consumer Peer Worker - Level 3 will also mentor and provide reflective supervision (where required), to other Consumer Peer Workers within the Mental Health program. The Consumer Peer Worker - Level 3 will work as part of a multidisciplinary team and establish strong, effective working relationships with clinical, allied health and other peer staff. In particular, they will be required to have strong networking skills and manage areas of referral to both internal and external service providers. The Consumer Peer Worker - Level 3 will act as a recovery champion within the HOPE team and Mental Health Program, and may be involved in other activities including training and education, improving experience of care, and service evaluation. All Peer Workers receive training and supervision to support them in their role.
