Job description

Alacrity Health are recruiting for all regions of Metro and Outer Melbourne! Work in your area in a rewarding community outreach role with extensive support and progression opportunities.

Please note this is a mental health specific role. Those with only a background in disability/aged care/unrelated health field will not be successful for this role.

This position forms part of our Mental Health Support Work team that specialise in supporting people with psychosocial disability inside the NDIS, mostly 1:1 mental health supports, with opportunity to also engage in our day trips, retreats and group activities.

About us

Alacrity Health is a grassroots organisation passionate about putting people before profit. With transparency and sustainability at the core of our work, Alacrity Health works hard to create an innovative, progressive and client-focused service with a social, supportive culture where people can develop and grow. Our core values are:

  • Transparency in supports, services, and an open culture that prioritises the health and wellbeing of everyone engaged in it above profit, alongside the reduction of the stigma of having mental health concerns
  • Sustainability in the ongoing supports of individuals who receive supports by us, in work/life balance of each member of our team, and a commitment to the environment we live in; and
  • Responsible service, namely being a part of promoting a cohesive and connected community, and taking responsibility as a business, for our impact on the environment and community around us - i.e. ensuring that we have a net positive impact, and leave our world and those in it better than when we entered it!

Benefits of working with us

  • Competitive pay rates - paid for your travel to participants!
  • Planned and regular shifts in your area, supporting work/life balance
  • A supportive, peer-run employer
  • Focused and extensive support and supervision to ensure employee development
  • Strong, flexible internal progression opportunities

Alacrity Health is an equal opportunity employer supporting diversity in the workplace. We welcome applications from diverse backgrounds, and people with lived experience of mental health issues and of supporting family members with mental health issues.

Our Mental Health Support Work (MHSW) team provides 1:1 or group assistance, utilising their experience to give trauma-informed mental health support to our participants.

Our peer support work team (PSW) operates similarly but utilising their lived experience as a crucial part of their role.

Please note that for the outreach component of your role, you will need to use your own vehicle. Travel reimbursements for this are paid on top of your remuneration.

About you

Alacrity Health are uncompromisingly seeking people who fit into the values and culture of the organisation. We believe that to foster an organisation that values community and the environment we need to allow people to grow in our organisation that share these commitments. We want a team that will engage with and support our values listed above.

To apply for this role, you must have mental health qualifications (minimum Cert IV).

Key Responsibilities

Service delivery and development

  • Empower participants with therapeutic supports involving 1:1 mental health support, and support participants to gain/maintain independent living skills such as budgeting, cooking, etc.
  • Working collaboratively with participants and the wider care team to identify their needs, set goals and develop a plan to meet those goals

Administration

  • Record case notes as required
  • Completing reports, risk assessments and other forms.

Professional development

  • Participate in professional development where needed, including supervision with your Team Leader.
  • Actively work to improve identified skill areas

Mandatory requirements

  • A qualification specific to mental health, minimum Certificate IV in Mental Health or Community Services, AOD, peer support or other mental health-related course (please note that disability, aged care, PCA, individual support and similar qualifications do not meet this requirement)
  • An NDIS Worker screening check (undertaken prior to commencement)
  • Current Working with Children Check
  • Australian Working Rights including evidence of COVID-19 vaccination
  • Current Australian Drivers license and vehicle with comprehensive insurance
  • Computer literacy

Applications should include a resume and a cover letter explaining your interest in the role and working at Alacrity Health. Please include at least two current referees.

Please note we have no closing date and we hire suitable applicants as they apply, therefore you are encouraged to apply without delay to avoid missing out on an opportunity with us.
