Safe Steps is the only 24/7, family violence response centre in Victoria, providing a “state-wide entry point” for victim-survivors of domestic and family violence. Services include information and referral, crisis response, specialist family violence risk assessment, safety planning, Webchat, and access to supported crisis accommodation.

The People and Culture Business Partner will make a significant contribution to the People and Culture team in a broad range of HR activities, industrial relations, employee relations, organisation change and development, performance management, recruitment, and HR administration.
The People and Culture Business Partner will work in close partnership with organisational leaders to assess and anticipate people-related needs through the provision of integral support to build the capability of organisational leaders to confidently and effectively enhance performance, culture and capability within their teams. This will be done through the provision of expert coaching in organisational policies and procedures and critical legislation.
Reporting to the Head of People & Culture, you will be a knowledge expert in the interpretation and application of the relevant Awards and Agreements, whilst providing guidance to the full-time P&C Officer supporting the effective delivery of HR services to the broader organisation.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Human Resource Management or other relevant business field
- Demonstrated successful experience in delivering contemporary solutions-focused HR initiatives that are consistent with strategic objectives, preferably within a social service setting, particularly women’s services or family violence
- Demonstrated ability to act as an internal consultant and Business Partner within an organisation providing services that meet the needs and expectations of internal customers
- Significant ER/IR experience, particularly in building performance, coaching managers and case managing under-performance, disciplinary and associated issues
- Must be a knowledgeable and innovative professional who adopts a flexible and collaborative style to successfully navigate a number of competing priorities
- Strong understanding of relevant legislation and understanding of best practice in employee relations and human resource management; ability to interpret and apply industrial instruments, legislation and policies in a workplace in a way that supports and is relevant to people within the workplace. A strong track record of demonstrating initiative and flexibility and making a contribution to the team
