Based in our Burleigh Heads office, we are looking for a People & Culture Coordinator to support the team in our rapidly growing legal and advisory businesses. The position is permanent full-time however some flexibility with start/finish times is possible for the right applicant (eg part-time working within school hours, 5 days per week).

Lawnch
Lawnch is a corporate and commercial law firm which ‘Lawnched’ in August 2023. Lawnch provides advisory and legal assistance to businesses navigating scale and rapid growth. Lawnch is the ‘twin’ of Twomey Dispute Lawyers and operates within the Twomey Dispute Lawyers operations eco-system.

Position Summary:
The People & Culture Coordinator will play a significant role in supporting our businesses while delivering key initiatives across the employee lifecycle, including recruitment and onboarding activities, policy and compliance management, professional development and training. You will also provide accurate and timely support to management and contribute to our positive work environment while ensuring our policies align with our strategic goals. Working within a small, professional team and reporting to our Business and Finance Manager, you will also provide general administrative and team support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Recruitment and Onboarding:
You will be responsible for coordinating all tasks including writing position descriptions and job advertisements, posting new roles, screening and managing the shortlisting of applicants, scheduling and supporting Directors with candidate interviews and conducting reference checks. Ensuring a smooth onboarding experience, you will complete new employee set ups, issue employment contracts and conduct orientations.
- Maintaining our HRIS:
Managing all personnel records in Employment Hero, you will ensure our database is complete and up to date. Creating new staff profiles, updating existing staff records, generating required documentation and maintaining management notes, you will assist and support our Directors on all people matters and coordinate employment conditions for both award and non-award staff.
- Manage all HR activities:
Ensuring our policies and procedures are regularly updated, you will develop and maintain our Employee Handbook. Monitoring staff leave requests and reporting, you will assist staff by providing guidance on their employment enquiries, EAP support and ensure the HR function operates smoothly across all our office locations. Projects and general administrative tasks that will support the broader team are part of this role along with all cyclical HR activities including assisting with the performance review process, salary reviews and promotion documentation.
- Policy & Compliance:
Reviewing and updating our policies and procedures, you will monitor updates to all relevant employment laws and regulations to ensure compliance. We also have compliance obligations with the Queensland Law Society so you will assist with notifications, renewals and updates. Supporting our Workcover and WHS requirements, you will identify opportunities for continuous improvement and assist with the implementation of change management initiatives as directed.
- Professional Development & Training:
Coordinating staff training sessions and presentations, you will assist our staff to meet their CPD requirements and work with our Directors on a range of wellness initiatives. Organising our quarterly team building activities, staff lunches and events to foster a great workplace culture, you will support the wellbeing of our staff and build rapport within our team.
About you:
- Minimum of 3 years of professional experience as a HR Coordinator/Advisor within a small-medium high growth business, ideally within a professional services firm
- Completed a degree in Human Resources (or relevant Business qualification)
- Knowledge of employment laws and regulations (Fair Work, Modern Awards, Non-Award Employment Agreements, Payroll and WHS)
- Effective oral and written communication skills, demonstrating emotional intelligence when interacting with others
- Empathetic and trustworthy, providing value to stakeholders beyond their expectations with the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion
- Team player who can build strong relationships and trust across all levels of our businesses
- Strong organisational and problem solving skills, assisting with conflict resolution activities
- Ability to work autonomously with high level attention to detail, ensuring accurate record keeping
- Proficiency in MS Office and experience in HRIS systems (Employment Hero preferred)
- Adaptable and flexible with an openness to new ideas and focus on continuous improvement
