An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Permit Officer to join our Pinkenba Site.
Reporting to the Operations Manager, this role will be responsible for Managing the permits and return of equipment at Pinkenba so that we operate in full compliance with the company’s Safety Management System and meet the requirements of the company’s Strategic Plan.
Responsibilities of the role include:
- Responsible for the issuing of permits under the business Permit to Work system including issuing and reviewing permits.
- Ensure works on site are completed in line with procedures outlined in the Safety Management System including Safe Work Permits, Confined Space Entry Permits and safety & environmental issues raised in Work Instructions.
- Co-ordinate and participate in all internal and external audits.
- Full responsibility for actioning any audit findings.
- Participate in/conduct incident investigations as required for major non-conformances in the terminal.
- Conduct Safe Work Permits, Confined Space Entry Permits.
- Benchmarks own performance against industry best practices.
- Identifies new processes and/or systems to improve productivity and/or make the business more efficient.
- Provide operational support including when the Operations Manager or Terminal Supervisor are on leave.
To be considered for the position, candidates will possess:
- 5+ years of driving and leading operations excellence in bulk liquid storage of comparable scale and size with proven success in the development and execution of business improvement programs and a successful track-record of challenging the norm.
- Extensive experience in 'best in class' bulk liquid storage HSE quality, customer service, timeliness and cost competitiveness are critical to sustained success.
- A sound understanding of Major Hazard Facilities is desired. Demonstrated track record of instilling a safety culture Success in implementing and operating a lean operational structure with a strong safety focus.
- A champion of continuous process improvements and structured quality programs. Demonstrated technical understanding of highly engineered product and the storage of dangerous goods.
- Demonstrated track record of managing contractors in accordance with a company safety management system.
