About your new branch
Our Infrastructure Delivery Branch are specialists who plan, design, build, maintain and operate our physical infrastructure, creating a safe and accessible city that meets the needs of our community now and in the future.
Our Plant Operators provide a service to multiple business units within our Infrastructure Department making every day a different and exciting one.
About your new role
We are currently accepting applications from skilled Earthmoving Plant Operators.
Duties will include:
• Operation of council earthmoving equipment in a safe and efficient manner
• The delivery of cost-effective fleet and plant solutions for internal council service providers in a safe and efficient manner
• Transportation of earthmoving equipment to sites across the city
• Recording operator maintenance, risk assessment, fatigue management of Council's heavy plant and equipment
• Performing administrative duties such as answering telephones, two-way radios, work orders, logbooks, incident reports, assisting in the allocation office and routine paperwork
• From time to time, assisting other council staff and contractors on site. This may entail manual labouring and the use of hand tools
• Maintaining a high level of customer service by liaising with relevant project supervisors regarding the safe and efficient employment of plant and equipment on job sites
• Performing other duties, as directed from time to time by the Heavy Plant Supervisor, provided that such tasks are within the competency of the nominated role
What you bring to your new role
• Hold a HR Unrestricted Drivers Licence or above
• Relevant Earthmoving tickets and licences
• General Construction Induction (White/blue) Card
• Be well-developed in interpersonal and verbal communication skills
• Have a high level of self-motivation and initiative, with the ability to work unsupervised
• Have the ability to effectively prioritise and multi-task in a business support environment
• Have the ability to think laterally and apply problem-solving techniques and develop and implement solutions
• Have the ability to work productively in a team environment and foster good relationships with other team members
• Be able to deliver high-quality service to customers (internal/external) and understand and react responsively to customer expectations
