Your core skill set includes strategic thinking, problem solving, exceptional written and verbal communication, and stakeholder management. You hold an understanding of how to lead and develop approaches to critically analyse problems in a methodical manner to inform decision making.  
The Opportunity

In your new role you will:

• Provide regulatory, strategic and technical advice to develop power systems solutions for complex energy problems. 
• Apply analytical strength to solve problems accurately and quickly, with the ability to derive and communicate insights and recommendations, backed by clear evidence.
• Deliver high quality, client-facing reports and deliverables. 
• Thrive in a collaborative team environment, and build trusted relationships with clients, management and project teams.
• Develop business opportunities by establishing external professional networks (e.g. through client contacts).

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Tertiary qualifications at degree level.
• Experience with policy settings surrounding energy systems (i.e. generation, distribution and transmission networks) and technologies.
• Strong understanding of relevant legislative and regulatory frameworks (including the National Electricity Rules).

Ideally, you’ll also have:

• At least 5 years of experience in the energy sector.
• Ability to bring together strong analytical skills with an understanding of client needs and the broader strategic and political context 
• Interdisciplinary subject knowledge, or a desire to work on projects that combine diverse disciplines
• Collaboration and engagement - ability to find the best solution by accommodating and balancing multiple and often competing objectives and interests
• Comfortable with uncertainty and capable of applying a flexible and adaptive approach to meet project objectives.
• Creative and curious - open to exploring new and innovative approaches to problem solving and responsive to emerging trends
• Skilled at breaking down complex issues and using information from diverse sources to support evidence-based policy  
• Strong working knowledge of the energy sector in Australia, which includes current challenges of the sector, an understanding of how the sector needs to transition.
• Strong verbal, written and presentation skills, including presenting qualitative and quantitative data
• A deadline orientation, with strong project management expertise.
• A personable and professional approach, with excellent communication and presentation skills and an effective team player.
