The Australasian College of Dermatologists (ACD) is the sole medical college providing training and continuing professional development for medical practitioners in the specialty of dermatology. The College advocates the importance of the profession to communities, government, and stakeholders with a focus on skin health.
About the Role
Reporting to the Director of Policy, Advocacy and Engagement. You will play a crucial role in upholding the College's position as a trusted clinical expert in skin health, ensuring its leadership, visibility, and influence. You will also contribute to promoting fair, equitable, and evidence-based health policies for patients, the community, and the profession.
About You
You will be passionate about and proactive in enhancing healthcare outcomes and promoting access to specialist care through effective policy initiatives. You will have experience across health policy and understand public health or related fields.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Develop evidence-based policy submissions, statements, reports, and communication materials through research and member consultation.
- Monitor and analyse health-related issues, policies, legislation, and political trends.
- Collaborate with the Policy, Advocacy, and Engagement Team to turn policy positions into advocacy opportunities.
- Build relationships with relevant organisations for support in developing position statements and awareness materials.
- Act as a knowledge hub and communicate policy activities to key stakeholders.
- Provide secretariat and policy support to committees and working groups i.e. preparing agendas, reports, and minutes.
- Conduct administrative, reporting, and ad hoc duties as required.
- Experience working in policy, advocacy, or academic health.
- Tertiary qualification in policy, health or equivalent.
- Interest or understanding of the Health or NFP sector.
- Experience in writing submissions and position statements
- Ability to build relationships and manage various stakeholders.
- Attention to detail with strong research and analytical skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent time management and proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment and able to hit the ground running.
- Flexible hybrid working arrangements.
