Job description

Based at Rugby League Central, Moore Park NSW, the Grant & Policy Manager will oversee the administration, coordination, and management of grants within the NRL and across the Game.  Additional responsibilities include developing grant proposals and applications, ensuring compliance with grant requirements, and assisting with reporting on grant activities.
  
In this hands on, proactive role you will also add value to the team by demonstrating your experience assisting with written submissions regarding Government legislation, regulation and Policy development and reform. You will be highly motivated, with a track record of demonstrating initiative and having a keen attention to detail.  Importantly you will contribute to workplace diversity and equity that enriches our culture and values of being United, Positive, Inclusive and Disciplined.
  
In summary you’ll
  • Liaise internally to understand business unit funding needs and align these with local, state and federal grant funding programs
  • Stay informed re funding trends, priorities and maintain a comprehensive database of funding prospects and deadlines
  • Manage the grant application process including proposal and grant writing, contracting and grant acquittal and reporting
  • Have a level of oversight of grant applications across the Game to ensure the best outcome for rugby league is achieved.
  • Develop and maintain grant calendars
  • Assist with government inquiries and Policy and legislation reform consultations
  • Be across Government policy and legislation that affects rugby league and contribute to the drafting of new policy and legislative recommendations
  • Provide support to the broader Government Partnerships team  
The experience we’re looking for: 
  • Ability to write compelling proposals and grants that effectively communicate NRL’s goals and objectives preferably in the nonprofit sector
  • Demonstrated understanding of policy issues, policy development, advocacy processes and ability to drive change
  • Excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills, with the ability to craft clear, concise, and persuasive proposals and government submissions
  • Understanding of government budgeting and grant funding processes, including grant prospecting, proposal development and grant management
  • A background in policy research, analysis and development, preferably in a non-profit, government or advocacy setting
Other key criteria:
  • A positive proactive attitude, actively contributing to fostering a culture of excellence, responsiveness, and flexibility within the organisation
  • Education, training and/or relevant experience equivalent to a completion of a degree in a relevant discipline.
  • Highly developed conceptual, analytical, research and problem-solving skills including the ability to evaluate and critically analyse complex issues.
  • Highly developed written communication skills, including the ability to prepare successful submissions and proposals to influence stakeholders or achieve strategic goals, and clear and concise reports and correspondence.
  • Highly organised with exceptional attention to detail
  • Passion for the NRL’s vision and a commitment to social impact
  • High level of initiative with the ability to successfully achieve high quality and specific outcomes.
