The Group: The Investment Management group consists of our investment advice and investment management capabilities. Through our registered investment advisor subsidiaries, we use our expertise in asset allocation, manager research, and portfolio construction to create innovative investment solutions for institutions, advisors, and their clients. Everything we do is driven by our independent view, long-term investment approach and desire to always put investors first.
The Opportunity: The Investment Management group requires a Portfolio Accounting/Financial Reporting & Tax Manager to support the operational service delivery to investors and to ensure the accuracy of distributions and financial reporting for the investment portfolios managed within the group. This role engages with relevant internal and external stakeholders to ensure the accurate and timely production of accounting and tax information for the Ibbotson Investment Trusts and separately managed accounts. The role is also responsible for provision of revenue and other financial information to relevant stakeholders. This position is based in our Sydney office and reports to the Chief Operating Officer.
Your day to day responsibilities will conclude:
Distributions and financial reporting
- Manage the quarterly and year-end trust distributions, income tax returns. BAS returns and annual trust financial statements processes (with support from external custodian/administrator and tax advisor).
- Review of monthly accounting package for the trusts (including trial balances) from external custodian/administrator ensuring the accuracy of accounting recognition.
Financial management, budgeting & forecasting
- Manage the group's input to budget and forecasting processes (covering trust, managed account and advisory client fees as well as expense accruals)
- Manage running expense accruals process (quarterly modelling and update) and trust ICR calculation and reporting.
- Manage monthly revenue and fees/expenses recovery process including provision of management information (FUM/FUA, financial results/charts etc)
- Commissions calculation monitoring and offshore liaison
- Review and provision of performance based revenue recognition
Business Improvement & innovation
- Provide advice on, primarily from an accounting/ financial/ tax perspective, and management of key projects as requested (e.g FATCA, Managed Investment Trust tax changes, integration projects, tax impacts of trust rationalisation)
About you:
- Bachelor degree in commerce/business/accounting
- Professional qualifications with ACA, CPA or similar with 3-5 post qualification experience
- Experience in funds management / fund accounting (financial & Tax), exposure to multi-manager trusts an advantage.
- Detailed understanding of taxation and accounting principles relevant to trusts.
- Superior spreadsheet and accounting systems skills.
- Demonstrated understanding of business processes and internal controls.
- Demonstrated Understanding of management reporting.
