Woodside led the development of the LNG industry in Australia and is applying this same pioneering spirit to solving future energy challenges.Our global headquarters are based in Perth and our state-of-the-art campus reflects the quality of life Perth is known for - with a six Green Star rating, advanced wellness features and flexibility in how you work.About the Role:Woodside Energy are looking for a Portfolio and Mergers & Acquisition manager to join their New Energy team in Perth!Reporting to the General Manager Portfolio and M&A, New Energy, this position is critical to delivering the New Energy strategy, including meeting the 2030 corporate targets of US$5 billion of investment in New Energy products and lower carbon services, and the Scope 3 Emissions Abatement Target of FID on projects with a total abatement capacity of 5 Mtpa of CO2-equivalent.In this role, you will support the development of regional New Energy strategies and portfolio management activities, along with the origination and execution of M&A opportunities.Duties & Responsibilities:
- Lead the development of regional strategies; the identification of coveted assets; and the preparation of counterpart engagement plans.
- Manage cross-functional teams in evaluating and executing new business M&A opportunities.
- Demonstrate a strategic mindset with an objective and solution-focused approach to risk in an uncertain environment.
- Embed consistent decision making and systematic, fit-for-purpose evaluation processes to achieve our carbon reduction and value-creation objectives, ensuring that the New Energy portfolio is optimised
- Meet the Woodside leadership expectations commensurate with the JL of this role.
- Demonstrate a deep understanding of New Energy market fundamentals, including global and regional trends, climate scenarios, demand drivers and value chain dynamics.
- Strategy development based on market insights.
- Portfolio optimisation/management including defining key project milestones and identifying key decision-points for acquisition, development, sell-down, divestiture, or recycle.
- New opportunity origination based on strategic objectives, portfolio requirements and market insights.
- Build and leverage internal and external networks to achieve role objectives.
- Develop and negotiate the required commercial agreements to execute transactions (with GM M&A and Legal).
- Frame M&A opportunities to properly define the opportunity, process, and valuation approach, and to inform negotiation/offer positions.
- Build relationships both internally and externally to generate leads for NE M&A opportunities
- M&A process management and deal execution, including transaction structuring
- Business case framing and preparation of articulate and concise recommendations
- Experience in New Energy markets, ideally in low-carbon hydrogen derivatives, CCS or renewables.
- Experience in building successful relationships, originating new business and managing an existing portfolio of opportunities.
- Strategy development

- Proven track record of improving the market position of a company
- Experience (10+ years) in Business Development, Origination, Commercial, and/or Engineering
- Tertiary qualifications in any of the following: Commerce, Economics, Finance, or Engineering
- Strong leadership, analytical and risk management skills to maximise the opportunity set and optimise execution in this dynamic environment.
