Job description
This role is key for the smooth operation of the Practice Management team’s daily business-as-usual activities. The role reports to the CAL Assistant Practice Manager and is responsible for a range of administrative activities across the CAL Legal Practice. Duties include working on a high volume of varied tasks, providing general support and enabling functions to assist the broader CAL practice, including:
Finance and procurement: including tracking financial expenditure, inputting financial contracts and invoices into relevant systems, monthly financial reporting, preparing spending proposals and assisting with preparing contracts and contract management;
Recruitment administration: including preparing job advertisement and required recruitment paperwork to source new employees. Upon hiring a new employee, assisting with their on boarding, arranging relevant access to buildings, systems and databases, and updating relevant induction manuals;
General practice administration: facilitating system access requests, updating any processes and operations to reflect corporate changes within the AFP and government legal practice, maintain tracking registers and spreadsheets, archiving and managing physical files; and working with internal Information and Communications Technology (ICT) and external suppliers to maintain matter management software (LEX and iManage) and provide assistance to legal practice by trouble shooting issues and being the central point of contact between CAL and ICT/external supplier.
Building and maintaining strong working relationships with other CAL staff, including Senior Paralegals as well as the broader CAL practice and other areas of the AFP such as ICT, Central Procurement Services and Recruitment.
