How will you contribute?

We are seeking a Practice Manager to join our Financial Audit Branch and play a key role in providing high level support and co-ordination of practice management, financial management and business support for the Financial Audit Branch. The role is also required to manage all aspects of Financial Audit resource allocation to meet objectives around equitable and efficient resource allocation within established benchmarks.

Key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Provide business support, and authoritative advice on practice management, to the Assistant Auditor-Generals, Directors and Audit Leaders within Financial Audit.
  • Implement effective workforce planning and monitoring, and resolve workforce planning matters in coordination with Financial Audit Directors and Audit Leaders.
  • Maintain the Audit Office’s workforce planning information system (Retain).
  • Monitor and oversee practice related matters (e.g. budget, milestones, WIP, FTE) and refresh the design of appropriate reporting.
  • Provide a co-ordination and liaison point of contact between the Finance and Performance Branch and Financial Audit on practice-related matters including budget preparation, charge-out rates and financial management.
  • Monitor and identify issues and solutions to improve financial management, including assisting with forecasting, financial reporting and periodic budget reviews as they relate to Financial Audit.
  • Assist in the planning and delivery of key stakeholder events, such as Audit Service Provider (ASP) briefing sessions, and other practice-related workshops.
  • Co-ordinate and prepare Financial Audit's contribution to corporate publications, annual work program, requests from Australasian Council of Auditors General (ACAG), and other briefing requests.
  • Monitor key milestone information, to ensure data is complete, timely and accurate and in compliance with business and audit policies and processes.
  • Deliver specific corporate/team objectives as agreed to achieve the vision, mission, values, goals and strategies of the Audit Office.
What will you need to succeed?

We are seeking someone with contemporary skills and experience in financial administration and, operations management. The ideal candidate will have well-developed communication and analytical skills with proven experience providing practical solutions to business issues.

You will also need:
  • tertiary qualifications in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance or a relevant field.
  • strong track record in client service delivery and project management
  • demonstrated leadership, interpersonal and people management skills.
  • experience in effective internal stakeholder relationship management.
  • to be an Australian permanent resident or citizen or New Zealand citizen.

On offer is a 35-hour work week and a total remuneration package (including superannuation) of $138,245 - $187,577 per annum depending on experience, skills and capabilities. As well as access to flexible work practices and arrangements.
