About The Role
The Practice Nurse role(s) on offer is 1.5 to 2.5 days a week and may include one Saturday per month. Exact hours can be discussed at the interview.
You will work collaboratively with the practice manager, your clinical colleagues and the reception team. You will be responsible for providing patient-centred care across a broad range of services including but not limited to:
- Chronic Disease Management including Care Plans / Health Assessments
- Triaging patients
- Sterilisation, infection control and cold chain management
- Immunisations
- Injury management (including dressings)
- Assisting in procedures (skin and other general practice procedures)
- ECG & Spirometry
- Ear syringing
- Aviation medicals
- Daily maintenance of the treatment room, stock control and care of medical instruments and equipment.
- Work closely with the Practice Manager and Practice Principal to implement process and system improvements.
About You
As the Practice Nurse, you will play a crucial role in provision of care and the overall patient experience. Your ability to communicate and develop sound interpersonal relationships across all ages is critical and will reassure our patients they are in the best of hands.
The successful candidate needs to be flexible in their rostering approach to support leave arrangements. You should also be self-motivated, a a team player, driven to learn and develop professionally.
Top candidates will also have deep general practice experience (or proven ability to learn this), outstanding work ethic, exceptional communication skills and experience (or interest) as a procedural nurse. To be considered for the role you must have:
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing or equivalent
- Current AHPRA registration without restrictions
- Current Working with Children Check
- Minimum three (3) years’ experience working as a nurse.
- Knowledge of current immunisation schedules, diabetes & asthma management, enhanced primary care items, infection control, CPR and emergency resuscitation techniques, equipment and drugs.
- Special Interest in assisting with procedures
- Proficient computer and administration skills
- Previous experience in a general practice will be highly regarded
- Previous experience as a nurse injector or procedural nurse is desirable
