The Shepherd Centre (TSC) is a highly regarded, child safe, not-for-profit organisation, providing specialised early intervention programs for children with hearing loss and their families.
About the role
Our wonderful Preschool Director in our Casula centre is retiring after more then 20 years with TSC, so we currently have a rare opportunity available for a motivated Teaching Director to come and join us and lead our amazing and dynamic team into its next chapter.
The preschool is well established and offers a small educator to student ratio, in a supportive language rich environment. We operate with a small group of 15 children aged between 3 and 5 years, with a mixture of children with and without hearing loss from the local community. The centre offers a caring, supportive environment, with a lovely working atmosphere for all of our staff.
This is a great opportunity to secure a fantastic and flexible leadership role in a great centre with strong community ties. Working days are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday and working hours are generally between 7.00am to 3.30pm (school terms only). The role will be offered initially on a 12-month fixed term contract.
Day to day you will be leading our team and working to further develop and deliver a curriculum founded on the centre's overall philosophy. You will assist with developing teaching goals for educators and children, while observing and recording children's growth.

Essential Criteria:
- Bachelor of Education degree.
- At least 2-3 years previous experience in a Director role.
- A thorough understanding of the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) and the National Quality Framework (NQF) and all childcare regulations and national laws.
- Current Child Protection training certificate and knowledge of current legislation.
- Current First Aid certificate with separate Asthma and Anaphylaxis Management training.
- Strong experience with programming and observations.
- Experience working with additional needs children will be highly regarded.
- Organised with strong time management capabilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Confident computer skills.
- Current Working with Children Check and NDIS Worker Check or willingness to obtain these
- Full working rights to work in Australia
- Fully vaccinated for COVID-19.
