The Company

Hunter & Northern Logistics is a privately owned Transport and Logistics company working directly for a single client who is a large player in the distribution of groceries all over NSW. Based at Huntingwood, on the client's site, we currently perform over 500 deliveries per day with a mix of specialised company and sub-contractor vehicles. New opportunity for Primary Freight supply has been secured by HNL and this recent growth requires your service.

The Role

This position is a newly created role which has become available due to the company becoming successful in winning a new contract.  You will have the ability to make this role your own and add a positive impact in our business whilst still having a close-knit team and management support available for support and development. 

As Primary Freight Specialist, you will be responsible for inbound customer requirements. Booking delivery slots, transport coordination, delivery planning, volume forecasting and schedules. Route the days collection and inbound service, allocating fleet, communication with warehouse supply including any on road issues delay services. 

You will be required to re-arrange drivers and fleet depending upon volume, absences and last minute changes to requirements.

You will be responsible for communicating bookings with operations team, supplier and DC to book and execute successful supply chain actions.

Building relationships with inbound operation, supply chain and distribution operation is key to success in this role. 

You will work closely with a dedicated team. You will report directly to the Site Operations Manager. This is a Permanent position, working a roster from Monday to Friday inclusive, from 8am to 5pm.

Responsibilities

• Management of customer relations with supply process. 
• Bookings and Load planning for suppliers in the primary network.
• Key communications with HNL Operations & Primary Freight Teams.
• Rostering of drivers, including managing planned and unplanned leave.
• Monitoring and documenting drivers and maintenance to ensure we are complying with NHVAS systems.
• Liaising with Drivers, Supplier and Receiving Customers to plan and achieve results.
• Resolution of issues, improve efficiencies in the fleet continued improvements to supply chain process with Safety Standards and COR requirements maintained at all times.
• Performance management of drivers.
• Management and control of drivers in accordance with Basic Fatigue Management. Regulations including administrative processes required by BFM.
• Plan, develop and execute transport services to ensure client’s requirements are met.
• Liaise with the workshop in relation to service and maintenance requirements.
• Ensure full compliance for team members, assets and customer sites.
• Manage work allocation to ensure all services are up to date and forward planning maximised.
• Manage driver and equipment cleanliness, compliance and presentation.
• Primary Freight Specialist position, scheduling local, intrastate and interstate freight.
• Allocating freight to ensure both safety and maximum vehicle utilisation.
• Service KPI reporting daily DIFOT to Primary Freight team. 

Experience and Skills

• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
• A good understanding of Microsoft Office and Excel is essential.
• Good computer skills and experience working with Transport Management Systems.
• Ability to determine and effectively meet priorities.
• Knowledge of truck and trailer configurations.
• Strong transport background in Supply Chain Primary Freight. 
• Experienced Timeslot planning and ability to manage multiple supply customer communication service at a high standard.
• Demonstrated ability to prioritise and work under pressure whilst achieving deadlines. 
• Able to multi-task, share team responsibilities to maintain maximum monitoring level of prompt, efficient and courteous customer service.
• Flexible approach to work to operate effectively in a team environment as well as independently.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail and accuracy.
• A minimum of 3 years' experience in a transport environment, ideally in a Primary Freight / logistics operational role, with good knowledge of NSW metro, regional, interstate supply.
• Proven understanding of Fatigue Management and Chain of Responsibility.
