The Curriculum, Assessment and Strategic Policy Directorate is responsible for developing an outline of Curriculum and Assessment in schools that, taking account of the needs of students, sets out the knowledge, understanding, skills, values and attitudes that students are expected to acquire and guidelines for the assessment of student achievement and setting standards of student achievement and for the assessment and certification of student achievement according to those standards.

You will develop and review Curriculum and Assessment and provide Aboriginal content education advice and expertise to support implementation of the Western Australian Curriculum and Assessment Outline (Outline). The successful applicant will monitor and review the implementation and delivery of curriculum, courses and course standards, projects and programs.
As the Principal Consultant - Aboriginal - Curriculum and Assessment, the successful applicant will develop and inform resources and professional learning to support the effective teaching of Aboriginal histories, cultures and languages. You will also organise, facilitate and coordinate information sessions for staff from schools, regions, professional associations and school systems/sector and conducts teacher seminars, as required.

Eligibility and Training Requirements

Employees will be required to:
- hold a recognised qualification in teaching and be currently registered or eligible for registration to teach in Western Australia
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement
- complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment and every three years thereafter.
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy
- consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit prior to commencement of employment
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check
