PR Projects have partnered with a renewable energy EPCM to source a Principal Electrical Engineer to join their business on a permanent basis.
The role is suitable for someone with great interface capabilities, technical mindset and experience in signing off electrical design work.
• Planning and overseeing electrical design development, change and functionality
• Providing consultation and advice on electrical methods and procedures
• Liaise and collaborate with the Commissioning Team on commissioning activities (design
install, test and operate)
• Liaising and collaborating with other Divisions/Departments
• Interfacing with internal and external consultants
• Assess and resolution of issues
• Support to functions of the Engineering & Design Functional Support Team for Tender
Development, Project Delivery, Operations and R&D activities
• Project Engineering
• Client liaising
• Conceptual design input and discussions
• Design and development coordination – i.e., Safety In Design, HAZOP, HAZID co-
ordination and delivery with respective work parties
• Approvals processing
• Review, approvals and sign off of Engineering designs and concepts
• Monitor and implement relevant Australian Standards, Mines Regulations and
Statutory Requirements
• Technical advice and guidance on relevant equipment and designs
• Mentorship and guidance to junior staff
• Commissioning development and management of plans and ITR’s
• Pragmatic and hands on approach to organised work, with a “roll your sleeves up” attitude
• Ensuring compliance with HSEQ, policies and procedures
• Foster a workforce culture of excellence, innovation, honesty, and teamwork
Qualifications and experience required:
• Strong understanding of engineering principles
• Tertiary and/or Post Graduate qualification in Engineering
• Professional Engineering Certification (CPEng and/or RPEQ)
• Technical Writing Experience
• Supervisory and Project Management experience
• Be energetic, positive and proactive
• Highly developed people management skills with an ability to communicate at all levels
• Excellent interpersonal and communications skills
• Excellent time management skills, conflict resolution abilities and confidence dealing with a wide range of people
• Skilled in the organisation and management of staff, as well as performing a variety of administrative tasks
• Experience with and in the design and selection of electrical equipment
• Experience in managing the requirements of technical persons in facilitating a project (technical input and management of technical risk)
• Broad understanding of engineering disciplines and design processes involved in projects
• Sound understanding of statutory, industry standards and specifications
• Understanding of QA and OSHE requirements
