An exciting opportunity exists for experienced finance officers to join the new State Emergency Service (SES) and Marine Rescue Queensland (MRQ) teams being established within the QPS!
As the Principal Advisor (Finance) you will be the primary source of financial management & will be responsible for budget preparations, monthly reporting and the provision of expert financial advice for disaster and emergency management functions including SES and MRQ. The position(s) reports to the corporate Finance Division but will be located within the business unit to provide direct financial management support at the local level.
The core capability requirements for this role are:
- Undertake the financial management responsibilities of the business unit functions, to facilitate the delivery of financial planning and forecasting, and the administration of grants, service level agreements and sponsorship arrangements.
- Facilitate the development and monitoring of capital and operating budgets, variance analysis and reporting.
- Provide specialist advice to senior management in relation to financial management practices, policies, and procedures, and promote and implement business improvement initiatives.
- Research matters to prepare quality reports, submissions, correspondence and briefing notes on financial management issues and impacts.
- Provide advice to contribute to the development and maintenance of the asset replacement plan and schedule and oversee the management of the asset register.
- Build and maintain networks with internal and external stakeholders and represent the business unit at meetings and forums.
- Create a working environment that encourages and empowers staff to seek challenges, develop skills and achieve results.
