About the Role:
Responsibilities include, but not limited to;
* Provide specialist and timely advice to senior executives and stakeholders on budgetary processes and systems, and strategic resourcing issues that impact on funding.
* Lead the coordination and maintenance of the department's corporate operating and capital budgets ensuring they are accurate and comply with legislation as well as accounting policies and procedures.
* Lead the coordination and preparation of State Budget Papers as part of the State Budget process on behalf of the Portfolio.
* Lead and conduct research, analysis and review to ensure alignment between the department's budget processes and systems.
* Undertake complex research activities and prepare submissions, reports and briefing materials on budget development, financial policy and management issues relating to the department's budget.
* Maintain an understanding of key financial business systems including SAP, budgeting tools, and Microsoft Excel and ensuring that appropriate budgetary controls that adheres to best practice are in place.
* Build and sustain effective networks with colleagues, clients and stakeholders within the department and the government to ensure that knowledge and information is shared, organisational capabilities are strengthened, and organisational and client outcomes are achieved within determined frameworks and timeframes.
* Identify departmental training needs in accounting and management and contribute to the development and implementation of strategies and training programs to meet these needs.
