Department:
Shared Services SA is a branch within the Department of Treasury and Finance. It delivers corporate and business services to a range of SA Government agencies and improves the delivery of internal administrative services by developing simpler, faster, more robust, and efficient processes and systems.
Financial Accounting, Shared Services SA provides statutory reporting, balance sheet account reconciliation, general ledger, payroll interface, fixed asset and right of private practice administration services and associated advice to a wide range of SA Government agencies.
About the role:
Financial Accounting is seeking to appoint an ongoing Principal Financial Accountant on a part time basis 0.6 FTE (with possibly to become full time). Salary will be adjusted according to actual hours worked.
The Principal Financial Accountant is accountable to the Manager Financial Accounting and is responsible for contributing to, and providing guidance to staff for delivering professional accounting and financial management services, including transactional services (e.g. journals, complex reconciliations, asset accounting), preparation of financial statements, compliance and accounting/financial management advice for SA Government agencies. The Principal Financial Accountant assists the Manager Financial Accounting with managing an effective control environment and undertaking a range of risk management and governance activities.
What you will need to succeed:
- Demonstrated ability to understand, interpret and apply policies and procedures to practical situations, and provide accurate business orientated solutions.
- Demonstrated experience in the preparation of complex financial statements, provision of complex financial and accounting advice and analysis of financial data in a complex service delivery orientated business.
- Commitment to financial accounting and management practices/compliance, including a strong understanding of accounting standards and related governance frameworks and their application in a government context.
- Experience in identifying, developing and implementing financial management and reporting improvement initiatives and processes.

Remuneration
Classification: ASO7
Salary Range: $106,512 p.a. - $115,137 p.a. (+ 11% superannuation) (pro-rata)
